How Much Water am I Drinking?

My plan for turning 47 involves getting healthier, moving more, and eating better. And that, of course, means drinking more water.

I invested in this cute little water bottle. I wouldn’t say that I have a favorite color, per se, but I love different palettes of colors, and this sunset orange with soft teal is particularly pretty!

You fill the bottle up at 8 AM and drink throughout the day, until 2 PM, at which time you should be finished.

Then you refill the bottle and continue drinking until 7 PM, and you’ve got your full intake of water for the day — 64 ounces. That’s a half gallon of water, folks, and let me tell you, I have not peed so much in my entire life.

I’m also supposed to be cutting back on things like caffeine and carbonated liquids, meaning cutting back on my Strawberries and Cream Dr. Pepper, but I also drink a lot of unsweetened iced tea. But caffeine is a diuretic, meaning I shed more water when I drink it.

Now, the thing about me is, I’m a good friend of caffeine. Caffeine is a lifeline when I need it for my migraines. When I have a bad sick-to-my-stomach migraine, nothing cuts through the pain like Excedrin Migraine. Even my prescription meds have caffeine in them to help hurry up the pain killer.

My goal for the next two weeks: drink 64 ounces of water each day. Limit myself to one unsweetened tea per day. Swap my Saturday Strawberries and Cream Dr. Pepper for a Sprite or a 7-Up.

I am going to be one cranky old woman for the next two weeks.
